Review: Parenthood S01E04 - Wassup

Confession; the Braverman family is kind of growing on me. It's not groundbreaking or realistic, but it does touch upon subjects that aren't always as played out it's concept. In this episode, grandpa Braverman is actually a fun comic relief, Mae Whitman proves she's Lauren Graham mother/daughter-bonding worthy and awkward situations are made (somewhat) bearable.

Thankfully leaving the Asperger story line alone for a week, we get to see more of Haddie (that's her name!) who got herself a boyfriend (reveal; it's someone from the 'Fame 2009' cast! And yes, I saw that movie) and failed to mention it to her parents giving Adam and Kristina more scenes to be convincing parents who slightly forgot how to talk to teenagers.
Meanwhile, Sarah sticks up for Amber after Julia doesn't want her to babysit. Drew spends a lot of time in the shower, worrying his mother and basically setting off half of the family convinced that they are the ones to talk to him about [apologies, the previous message was deleted due to awkward content which should only be watched in this episode and to be never spoken of again].

It's nice to see the family together at the end of every episode, before the show started I wished for a classic family drama, and previously I complained about the scenes thinking they were mushy and forced, but you know what? Who cares, the Braverman feel more like a family that hangs out with each other than the Walkers ever did, and it's actually kind of natural. I liked this ending, and I officially like this show.
