The Walking Dead S02E04 - Cherokee Rose

While the predictability of the show keeps growing the entertainment value remains constant. The Walking Dead is one of those shows where the slow pace feels right.
Another episode that has some good twists but is just as crazy as it feels real. Throw an Asian in a well to a get a fat zombie out? Sure, we're up for it. Or investigate an empty house by yourself to find a girl? Very smart.
It doesn't really matter what loops this show lets its characters jump through, it makes up for some damn entertaining TV.
There's absolutely nothing believable about trying to save water for consumption after a zombie has been conserving in it but it's a twist I am willing to accept. These folk are deserted and water is needed to survive, so let's get that mother out. Too bad the fat bastard was pulled out and then broke in half. But you know, that stuff happens.
No, what makes this show work is the quiet conversations. The moments where these diverse characters get a chance to shine and show what they are made of. Whether it's resorting back to primal needs and having sex for the sake of it or confessing that those hateful slurs that were made a couple of episodes back meant absolutely nothing, these characters feel real. The best twist was when the patriarch of the house our gang is resting in confessed that they were not welcome there forever. Something that's completely understandable considering the track record this group of people has.
And then there's some soap stuff going on here too. A man offered another man up to the zombies and has to live with that guilt now, which makes up for good TV too. And the female lead of the show is pregnant, which is a storyline every show deals with at some point. Fun stuff.
While all of the crazah stuff is what makes the show addicting, I'll enjoy the true characters moments when they occur. Preferably before a zombie gets his brains blown out.
