The snow is melting, flowers are blossoming and little Bambi's are running around in the fields; spring is here, which means that your favorite shows are coming to an end. But no need to worry, because for everybody who hates the sun, getting twitterpated or season finales, ABC Family has got some nice shows to get you through that horrible season that is summer.
A one-hour scripted drama is Pretty Little Liars, which is based on the book-series with the same name. Just like the books, the show will center around four girls who are surprised to find their "leader" missing. Flashforward one year and the girls are getting texts of someone named "A" who threatens to expose their secrets... Think Gossip Girl with some 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'. Lucy Hale (Privileged) stars as Aria, Torian Bellisario (Navy NCIS) is Spencer, Ashley Benson (Eastwick) plays Hanna. Also starring are Laura Leighton (Melrose Place), Bianca Lawson(The Vampire Diairies) and Ian Harding (NCIS: Los Angeles). The show is produced by Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick (Desperate Housewives), Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy (Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diairies).
Another one-hour scripted drama series based on a book is Huge. The show follows the lives of seven teens and staff at a weight-loss camp, as they look beneath the surface to discover their true selves and the truth about each other. The series stars 'Hairspray's' very own Nikki Blonsky, Andrew Caldwell, Zander Eckhouse, Harvey Guillen, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holiday and Hayley Hassellhoff. The production is in hands of Winnie Holzman ('Wicked', My So-Called Life), Kim Rozenfeld, Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy.
The final new show will be the much talked about comeback of Melissa Joan Hart in Melissa & Joey. A sitcom about a former wild child turned politician (Hart) who, due to unfortunate and unforeseen events ends up taking care of her niece and nephew. Too busy herself, she hires a manny. Joey Lawrence is the other half of the title and will play the manny.
Returning shows will be The Secret Life Of The American Teenager which wrapped it's season last week and will be heading into it's third season, and Make It Or Break It, of which the second season will also come this summer.
