The show that wrote the book on returning jokes gave pineapples and goats entirely new meanings. If the same can be said for tea-cup pigs still has to be seen, but it definitely has potential.
When Ted is really into a new girl he met, he fails to see the girl has him hooked, meaning she doesn't want to turn him down, but she doesn't want him either. And while Ted remains in ignorence bliss, the others remember or experience their own stories of being "hooked".
The result is some entertaining characters, a nice story and an actual possibility for Ted to marry. But even Barney's fantastic shout outs don't make up for the absence of non-stop succesful jokes, whereas that is exactly what the search for the mother is good for. It is no doubt an one week thing which will diverse from viewer to viewer. But for this fan, the episode barely brought up enough laughs to measure it's average quality and though nobody could ever get enough of a tea-cup pig...they just aren't pineapples.
