Review: Desperate Housewives S06E17 - Chromolume #7

A decent episode that jumps ahead (or way back) with story lines and characters in a big way, leaving you neither surprised nor satisfied. But it wasn't all bad either, leaving you in the middle wondering if this was either a case of the shark or nice progression.

There were guest stars, there were revelations, new characters were introduced, while others found meaning. Stories were dealt with, and two of them grasped back to way before we ever met the housewives and it's up to you to decide whether this was really good, or just meaningless.
Starting with Gaby. We love our Gaby the best when she's running around on her heels yelling at people or running away from the chainsaw her husband has in her hand. Because that's what she does. This episode reaches back to Gabrielle's modelling career (with Heidi Klum and Paulina Porizkova) focusing on the reasons why she left. Gaby admits she left because she married Carlos, but that might not be the entire story. Long time fans vaguely remember having dealt with this topic before, and the result was Gaby loved Carlos. Now the focus is put on her career and that it was never Gaby's choice to begin with. Changing the past or a big reveal? Does it matter?
Moving on to Bree who has to watch how Andrew openly professes his dislike towards the new guy in the company. Well, Jeremy has a reason for showing up, and it's revealed in 'Chromolume #7' (possibly the weirdest episode title of DH to date). Hint: It has something to do with Bree's (ex-)lovers.
Also Angie gets some light shed as we get to meet her mother and the story about why they are on the run is finally being told (on a plane, how secret can it be?).
On a lesser scale, Lynette sees how Preston returns home with a new girlfriend. Well guess what Lynette's gonna do! Exactly! (The fact that I let you guess says everything about the intrigue of this story.)
The one up point of the episode was Susan and Mike having an old fashioned man/wife story line that is familiar and down to earth. Desperate Housewives always switches big mystery with household, but this time I was more interested in the household part, proving the mystery wasn't worth staying up for.
All in all the episode was incredibly predictable. You literally know exactly what is going to happen at the start of every scene and nothing ever does manage to surprise you. There was development, there were advances made, but all you're left with is the feeling that it could've been so much more.
