Review: Justified S01E01 - Pilot

A policedrama about a lone Deputy U.S. Marshal named Raylan Givens who doesn't tie any knots around it. Away from fancy crime solving, this show takes Middle America and shows it the way it is. Rough around the edges, but a decent moral inside.

In the Pilot we follow Givens after he makes his superiors angry by a shootout in Miami, forcing him to go back to the small town he once escaped, Harlan, Kentucky. Old memories resurface, and old friends are new enemies. How much has really changed in all this time he has been gone?
You don't need very much to decide if this is the kind of show for you. This is the Wild West, in modern times. Or the real America if you like. Here people don't need cops to defend themselves, here race and the belief in God are high topics. Bazooka's, gun fire and some good boots, and you're good to go to give Justified a decent chance.
The show is edgy, a little dark, but entertaining and grounded. There's not much to it, because there doesn't need to be. It's a story about a normal guy from a normal time. No pop hits, no fashion models, just good old folk passing time and staying between right and wrong.
