Review: Psych S04E16 - Mr. Yin Presents

In an exciting, thrilling homage to Alfred Hitchcock, Psych bows out it's season with a finale worthy of such a theme. 'Mr. Yin Presents' is one that catches back to everything you knew, and twists it around for it's own amusement.

Psych does comedy and crime, and even if the jokes don't always work (you do have to have one sort of humor), it's admirable that even in life-threatening situations, the comedy never feels forced. And if you can't laugh at the humor the way the characters do, there's enough story to go on. This season finale catches back to the season three finale in which Shawn and Gus caught Yang and locked her up. Now the murders continue and the murderer seems to play a twisted mind game, inspired by the movies of Alfred Hitchcock, with Shawn and the others.
Besides some subtle and obvious movie references, the episode has a great plot that throws you around like a t-shirt in the washing machine. You think you got it, but there's a whole new load waiting.

Ultimately, the finale would've worked better if the episode ended half way in the thrilling part, but there is some closing to be found here, where the light-heart of the show is the biggest spoiler. But still, even for a newbie like me, the episode was well enjoyable, exciting and refreshing, with an ending that catches back to the entire episode in a very big way.
