Review: The Secret Life Of The American Teenager S02E24 - Ben There Done That

There are only a few things I like more than season finales of teen dramas. They are dramatic, full of cliffhangers and shocking revelations and childish stuff. The season finale of The Secret Life Of The American Teenager does OK on all fronts, except maybe the part that makes you want to see the resolution of it all.

Seeing 'Ben There Done That' made me realize why I liked this show in the first place, and why I stopped watching. The first one because besides feeling like the kids are actually high school material and dealing with stuff normal kids deal with, without having crazy dead-mother-coming-back-to-life-for-money story lines, the last one because the only major twist this show has to offer is getting a main character pregnant.
And then the story gets old. In the season finale, we don't find out if someone is actually pregnant, we just talk about it a lot and discuss the possibilities, much like how the show started. Meanwhile, every parent is talking about marriage and two couples actually get to do it. Resulting in my favorite collision of relationship drama; a wedding. Fancy clothes, a character who turns out to be able to sing and a lot of angry stares, this Secret wedding has it all, and it's quit entertaining. What's not however is how annoying Amy still is, how not definite any of the relationships seem to be and how the show tries to fit the word "sex" in every scene.
Also, the future prospects aren't looking very interesting either. Random couplings, possible pregnancies, no if the show gets anything right, it's that we've been there, done that.
