Review: Sons Of Tucson S01E01 - Pilot

Doing my good deed for the day, I gave this lost cause a shot. Posting below 5 million viewers yesterday, having one actor already ready to jump aboard pilot season, Sons Of Tucson is anything but promising. And if you think this is the part where I tell you to give it a go anyway, well, it's not.

Truth is, Sons Of Tucson is not funny by definition. From Tyler Labine who just doesn't pull off the Jack Black that he tries so hard to do, to the kids who bring back the annoying-child-actor era that we thought were far behind us, what with the little talents that grace comedy in The Middle and Modern Family. Benjamin Stockham might be too young, because he doesn't even pay enough attention to convince you that he's someone else, and Frank Dolce can't do the character of the wise-bud Gary when he's drilling his lines like he's having a seizure. Matthew Levy is alright, but certainly not interesting enough to balance out his on-screen brothers.
Going to story lines, there was one interesting scene in grandma's house, which was ok at best to over-the-top gross. It's a nice setting though; three boys try to find a replacement father and their eye falls on a lazy store-employee who lives in his car. Yet, it never gets carried out to the point where you WANT these characters to spend time with each other.
And the most important part; the humor is lame. Dull, obvious, played-out, there are lots of synonyms to Sons Of Tucson, but none really state how badly the comedy really is.
I might be too harsh, but this was just simply unentertaining. Do yourself, your viewing companions, and your laughbuds a huge favor, and skip this one. You literally do not miss a thing.
