Community S03E01 - Biology 101

Talking about sitcoms keeping their groove, Community was its clever, funny and aware self again in the season premiere.
I'll start by confirming that this is not the show's strongest episode but even so it is better than a lot of other episodes starting the new year. We're immediately brought back to the crazy kids of McKinley Greendale when the parody 'High School Musical' and shows alike. A new year indeed has begun but, as the dean would conclude later on, nothing has changed. That's only a good thing.

Because I personally couldn't do without Jeff struggling to keep his cool, Abed losing it or Mr. Chang stealing scenes. The groups dynamic hasn't shifted much either though the likes of Britta, Annie and Shirley were a little on the side yesterday.
Not that it really mattered. We were treated to several story lines who all eventually met each other only to accept that nothing can ever really change. It's admirable that for an entire episode the show can have you thinking progress is being made, have you wishing there wasn't only to give you exactly what you want, when you least expect it. If that makes sense.
Anyway I was utterly delighted with this episode and not just because I finally got to know what happened to Cougar Town (I was too lazy to Google it). It was standard Community and I hope to see a whole lot more of it this season.
