Modern Family S03E01 - Dude Ranch

With its first fresh installment of the season Modern Family immediately claims the throne of Best Comedy for another year.
Very few shows manage to (re-)introduce a family of characters as well as this show does within the span of twenty minutes without losing track of the individual story lines and developments. We start the season with a fully-packed episode that touches upon a lot of relationships and complications we already visited before but it never feels out-dated.

Phil and Jay always had their differences and always will but pointing them out and facing them doesn't seem to get old. In fact it's a progress I for one am fully invested in. Same goes for Claire loosening up. I can infinitely agree with her discussions to protect Haley but as I recently graduated from my teenage I fully understand Haley, too. It's just another example of how strongly these characters are written and balanced out. They are as real and relatable as our own family while never ever failing to be so much more fun.
Because besides a wonderful family life the show is still hilarious. LOL might be the most overused acronym on the web but if it ever was applicable for something, it's for this. The subtle, quick humor is exactly what I'm looking for in a sitcom and quite literally has me laughing out loud.
My final shout-out goes to the tiny but very honest love story Alex encountered. Besides being devastatingly cute it was so poignant and contemporary it deserves it's very own full-length feature film.
A wonderful show that seemingly hasn't lost any quality over the summer and has, just like baby Lily, grown up to a valuable player to be reckoned with.
