Weeds S07E13 - Do Her/Don't Do Her

What the fuck.
I do mean to curse because I'm so distraught I don't even know what is up anymore. Weeds finales always tend to leave you completely messed up, shocked, surprised and clueless as to where the show is heading. This year it is really no different. We jump, we land, we're lost.

What's special about the season finale is that, unlike many other episodes, we're not completely tangled up in dozens of story lines coming to a head. Instead, we're moving at an irregular pace focusing more on relations than story. For one, I thoroughly enjoyed the metro scenes. It's near impossible to have these eccentric characters be on different sides of an issue and still let them be human, but Jenji Kohan succeeds. Even in the most bizarre situations, Nancy and whats-her-face are sisters. They've dealt with each other forever and they are dealing with each other now. The matter is obvious and yet so diverse. You can't blame Nancy for wanting her son back but you can imagine that her son is far better off without her.
And while the sisters take a fun trip through the world of Weeds Sylas is trying to redeem himself. The relationship with his mother was an important one for this season and I'm glad it came to such an end. As much as I enjoyed the thought of these being enemies, we need her sons on Nancy's side of life.
Which brings me to the final seconds of the episode. We're all set. Shane has a secret but that isn't the problem. We're all so incredibly set on something bad to happen that we immediately expect the worst. The show then let's off some steam only to shatter everything to pieces. Literally. The cut to black is awful. It's a brilliant cliffhanger but it will eat me up alive.
Once again, the show proved its unique taste, its random sense of storytelling and its incredible power to leave viewers hanging. Not that it really matters, because when we come back next year. Nothing will be like we expected anyway.
